VintageView Wine Storage was founded by Doug McCain in Colorado, USA.

He invented the label-forward wine rack out of need. He had the type of annoying problem that all wine collectors face: his traditional, cork-forward method of storing his valued wine collection left a lot to be desired in terms of functionality and design. Try finding a specific bottle out of 3,000 when all you can see are corks and you’ll understand the dilemma he shared with serious wine collectors as well as service-industry professionals.

So he headed out to the shop outside his Castle Rock home and build the first “vintage view” wine rack by hand, welding and bending some scrap metal to meet his needs. It looked good.

Soon after, friends saw the new style wine rack and wanted label-forward racks in their own cellars. Doug quickly started welding to meet demand, and a Colorado company was born. Since 2001, tens of millions of bottles of wine have been stored in VintageView racks in home’s worldwide, and in fine restaurants and shops from Auckland and Melbourne to London and New York.

VintageView’s exacting requirements ensures only the highest quality racking is placed in your home or business. Their years of experience have helped to refine the contemporary wine rack, and the company continues to make improvements and innovations regularly.

Wine on the Side have been the New Zealand importers of the VintageView brand for many years now, and have helped many kiwis create wine cellars and wine walls as well as fitted out numerous restuarants and cellar doors with this modern style of wine racking.

We have exclusive access to the full range of wine storage VintageView products for the New Zealand market. Find something you like but can't see it listed on our website? Let us know and we can source it for you.
